They are extensively used where contamination from oil, Grease or Dust is unacceptable, where temperature is too high for conventional lubricants and where operating conditions avoid use of other material. Other metal bush needs oil and grease for lubrication which start volatilizes or carbonizes above temp 200°C.
Carbon stoker bush bearings run satisfactorily under condition which are so varied that it is impracticable. Carbon stoker dry bearing bush grades are mainly Resin impregnated carbon graphite, Antimony metal impregnated carbon graphite, and in some special application resin bonded carbon graphite grade are also recommended. Above carbon grade are extensively used where contamination from oil, Grease or Dust is Undesirable and temperature is too high.
